GPS receivers GBT-005 vs G-Space GS-R238

GPS Receiver GBT-005
This Bluetooth USE receiver doesn’t look as good as the other devices in this roundup, and is also slightly larger than the G-Space offering, but it works well. At first, the translucent blue casing looked a little strange, but after a while it grew on us. The unit itself features an external antenna port along with an on/off switch and a mini-USB port that is used to charge the battery. Looking at the bundle that ships with this GPS receiver, we were disappointed to find that there was no car charger included. There is also no GPS software bundled with this unit, so again we made use of HandyMap Al Gold, and we were happy with the results.

GPS receiversG-Space GS-R238
G-Space has long been a popular brand for Bluetooth GPS nodules. The RS232 uses the new SiRF Star III GPS chipset and is net much bigger than a Zippo lighter. Its compact size makes it ideal to place on your dashboard, out of sight when you drive. We were impressed to see a car charger bundled with this unit, as well as a standard AC adapter. Pairing it with our test PDA was almost too easy, and HandyMap Al Gold picked it up straight away. The GS-R238 also features an external antenna port, should you wish to connect a high gain antenna, and it also has an on/off switch, although it does automatically switch off if it is inactive for a period of time.
